We at Black Blossoms are thrilled to announce our collaboration with the Black Heart Foundation, a pivotal partner in our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the arts.

The Black Heart Foundation is renowned for its dedication to creating educational opportunities that bridge aspirations and achievements, especially for young people from underrepresented backgrounds. Through a variety of initiatives, they strive to cultivate enriching, artistic, and inspiring environments.

This partnership underscores our joint efforts as we launch the upcoming course, "Reframing Blackness," led by the esteemed art historian Alayo Akinkugbe. This transformative five-week course challenges historical oversights and enriches the discourse around Black narratives in art. Participants will delve into the representation of Black figures in Western art, explore the presence of Blackness within museum spaces, and critically examine curatorial practices that have historically been overlooked.

    Course Objectives:

  • Deepen understanding of the historical portrayal of Black figures in Western art.

  • Explore the impact and representation of Black muses in artistic narratives.

  • Examine how exhibitions have shaped and can reshape the narrative of Blackness in the arts.
