The course will introduce participants to key artistic and intellectual figures in Contemporary Black British visual culture over the past 50 years, whilst exploring the conceptual themes, technical qualities and political perspectives that their works represent. The course will take a historical approach, looking at 70s/80s, the 90s and 2000s, ending with a consideration of current/recent trends, whilst speculating on what the future might hold.
